Viking Age, 823 AD

A kingdom seized. Two surviving princes, separated by fate and distance. One seeks revenge; the other, belonging.

Set in the turbulent Viking Age and inspired by events recorded in the early medieval Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, the Wolves of Dumnonia saga recounts the twilight years of one of the last great British Kingdoms: Dumnonia. The series follows the lives of the two surviving heirs, Aneurin and Caelin, who are symbolized by the two wolves of their family’s royal standard. Separated in childhood amidst their treacherous uncle’s violent conquest of Dumnonia, the two brothers have led utterly different lives as they have grown into manhood. A mystical strand of awareness binds them, however, and as the saga progresses, their paths begin to converge as each seeks out the other.
Both wolven kin are driven by the same unwavering purpose: to one day return to their homeland and together reclaim their stolen kingdom.

Praise for Book 1 in the series, The Shadow of Fenrir:

“The closest thing you’ll get to a time machine. Peter Fox’s rousing tale thrusts you into a dark age world that envelops every sense so powerfully you feel like you’re pounding through the mud beside the characters. A remarkable debut. Recommended.” – James Wilde, author of the bestselling Hereward series.

“An entertaining read for lovers of historical fiction, especially those who enjoy a Viking saga. I look forward to the next instalment.” – Juliet Marillier, author of the Blackthorn & Grim and Warrior Bards series.

“It has all the right attributes for a rip-roaring yarn - class characters and a gripping story. Now I have to get the other books in the series to see where it all leads.” – Robert Low, author of the Oathsworn and Kingdom series.

The Shadow of Fenrir

A promise sealed in blood, broken. The wrath of Fenrir unleashed.

Rescued as an infant from the wreckage of his boat, Caelin ap Cadwyr has come to be raised as a Norseman, far from his homeland, his family and his destiny. Given a new name – Rathulf Thorvaldarsson – the orphaned Briton is unaware that his chosen path as a Viking warrior is soon to be thrown wildly off course.

Although well aware of his British ancestry, one secret has remained hidden from Rathulf throughout his life. The key to that secret is an oaken trunk, plucked with the baby from the foundering skiff all those years ago; but when it comes time to reveal the truth, Rathulf’s foster-father, fearing the loss of his son, defies the will of the Gods. He breaks the blood pact sealed after the rescue of the babe, unintentionally setting off a chain of events that will leave Rathulf fighting not just for his identity, but for life itself.

The Shadow of Fenrir is the first volume in the historical adventure series The Wolves of Dumnonia.

A Thrall's Crown

A pact with the Devil. A truth revealed.

Saeric, recently escaped slave, is running for his life. Prompted to flee his Saxon masters by visions of his younger brother, Saeric runs westward towards his former home. Weakened by years of thralldom and hindered by the iron chains that bind his ankles, he eventually succumbs to his exhaustion, to be found by a new master, Heremund, blacksmith of Scirburne, Wessex; himself a man with a shadowy past. Thus, Saeric’s brief taste of freedom is snuffed out, and with it, his dreams of avenging his family. His only hope now is his brother, who he prays will find him before it’s too late.

In far away Norvegr, Caelin ap Cadwyr–known to his Norse family as Rathulf–has set sail with his best friend Alrik on a rescue mission. All thoughts of Dumnonia are far from Rathulf’s mind as the Wave Skimmer turns into Leif’s home fjord. But all is not as it should be, and elation quickly turns to dread as the curse of Fenrir strikes again…

A Thrall’s Crown is the second volume in the historical adventure series The Wolves of Dumnonia.

Wolf of Dumnonia

A boyhood lost. A kingdom to claim.

Entering Viking manhood is no easy feat, and Rathulf Thorvaldarsson’s journey has been harder than most. His sixteenth year is no exception, as everything he once knew to be true is torn away by malicious Gods and mortals. All the while, Norse-raised Rathulf struggles to accept the inevitability of his royal British heritage, as visions of his long-dead brother continue to haunt him.

Then a shocking betrayal, exposed in the wake of Rathulf’s birthday celebrations, sets off a chain of events that sweeps the adopted British Prince and his friends towards the brink of disaster. Soon, Rathulf must confront his birthright once and for all.

Wolf of Dumnonia is the third volume in the historical adventure series The Wolves of Dumnonia.

The Apprentice Prince

A king in the making. A lost prince returns.

Saeric, apprentice to Heremund Iron Fist and acolyte to Earl Eadwald of Sceaptesburh, is fast realising how ill-equipped he is to wear the mantle of a crown prince. His progress is blighted by the lingering shadow of his former Saxon owner, Eanswith, who is determined to reclaim her runaway slave at any cost. Meanwhile, as rumours grow of a lost prince returned, others begin plotting a different course for Saeric.

As summer draws to a close, Rathulf sails toward his self-imposed exile, arriving in Dumnonia to an uncertain future. Knowing nothing of the language or customs of his homeland, Rathulf sets out alone in search of his brother and the city of their birth. It is in Caer Uisc that he finally receives a friendly welcome, so he dons his wolven tunic, thankful to have at last found his true home and people…
