Experimental archaeology and archaeological reconstructions are wonderful ways of bringing the past to life, especially when there are few surviving physical remains. I am a trained archaeologist and I have done a lot of research over the years, but I still find it exciting not only to see what something would have looked like but also what techniques and methods might have been used in its construction.
I am also fascinated by the minutiae of everyday life. I want to know how ordinary folk like me lived and worked, what they ate and how they cooked it, how they shaved or cut their nails – the sorts of details which can sometimes be quite elusive.
